Martha is a 3rd generational farmer, continuing to operate a Century Farm, in Franklin County, NC.  It is a diversified farm with livestock (both beef and dairy cattle), sheep, meat goats, and poultry.  It is also a certified organic vegetable farm.  With over thirty years of service as a NCSU Cooperative Extension Agent in Franklin County, the sharing of research-based knowledge is important to her in order to make her Extension clients more successful in their agricultural endeavors.  She has a passion for sustainable agriculture, preserving for the next generation.  Her academic training was at NCSU, with degrees in Animal Science and Food Science, along with a Masters in Adult Education.  Martha continues to work with horse owners in Franklin County which continues to experience tremendous growth in equine numbers.    Programming involves monthly winter educational series, an Annual EIA/vaccine clinic for area horse owners, and a summer popular Annual Horse Farm Tour, in addition to many daily contacts with equine owners.
