Ingleside owner and trainer Heather Boodey grew up on a farm and with horse trainers as parents, has ridden her whole life. As a child, she rode at Richlon Farms in Ohio before moving to North Carolina, where she had horses with Johnny Lucas and Claude Shiflet. She began showing at the age of eight on her pony, Fireball Dixie. Heather gained experience as a child working at her parents’ barn and as a teenager also worked for Johnny Lucas. Following high school, she spent a summer working for Nelson Green and after her family’s Raleigh farm was sold, spent a year at Redwing Farm in Illinois with Billy Greenwell. After attending college at East Carolina University, Heather took over her parents’ Ingleside Farm business in 1991.

Some of her accomplishments include winning the Ladies Five-Gaited at North Carolina State Championship with CH My Korbel, the Roadster Pony at North Carolina State Fair with CH Zildjian, and showing Sports Night as a 3-year-old gaited horse to a top ribbon at Lexington Junior League. More recently, she and Heartland High Interest were the Junior Harness Pony Reserve World Champion of Champions. Some of the notable horses Heather has trained include WC Oh Santana, WC Oh By George, WC CH Zildjian, CH My Korbel, CH First Asset, CH What’s The Whoopla, CH Future Treasure, Mahvalous Asset, Court Dance, Douglas Fairbanks, Kitty Thomson, Enchanted Dance, Justa Kid At Heart and Sports Night.
