We maintain a commercial liability policy with Markel Insurance, a well-known and reputable insurance agency that caters to equine owners and professionals. Our policy covers, in addition to the basic coverage, medical/injury/illness coverage per equine not owned by us that is in our care, custody, and control should anything occur during transport leading to the serious illness, injury, or death of the equine. In addition to our commercial liability insurance, we also maintain the commercial vehicle insurance and other mandated requirements set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration for operational authority as a "legal" for-hire equine transporter and service provider across state-lines.
We take pride in providing our emergency and non-emergency services with a high level of professionalism, state-of-the-art response and transport vehicles, large cache’ of basic and advanced animal technical rescue equipment, equine and livestock handling and management skill-set, and decades of education, training, and real-world experience in emergency services and incident response. As equine and livestock owners and professionals, you have a lot to think about... nutrition, healthcare, training, breeding, riding, transporting, medical emergencies, end of life plans, finances, insurance, and the list goes on… As emergency responders, you never know what type of situation or incident you will be facing until you arrive on-scene... some situations or incidents will involve large animals (equines, livestock, exotics, etc.). "Promoting mental health and wellness through the preservation of the American Mustang"
We offer Equine-assisted learning programs for Veterans, first responders and active duty military free of charge and are conveniently located in Aberdeen North Carolina, close to Fort Bragg. EAL has been shown to help with PTSD, TBI's, and other related injuries that our military personnel may suffer. During EAL our participants develop clear communication skills and learn how to have a healthy work/play relationship with one of our horses. The ability to have a good relationship with a horse opens gateways to healthy relationships within the human world. EAL promotes the development of life skills applicable to educational, professional, or personal goals through equine-assisted activities. An EAL session consists of a participant, a horse, and a professional equine specialist working together in an outdoor setting.
We start with a 2-hour assessment session in which we introduce you to EAL and you can decide if it is something you wish to pursue.
Bar T Horsemanship/Jim Thomas
Our training philosophy is results-driven. We produce soft, willing partners. At the Bar T, we take the role of the leader—provide clear signals, add consistency, patience and the understanding that the horse should look to his owner for direction.
“My goal is for you to understand why your horse acts as it does, and what role you must play to gain his trust,” Jim says. “Horses are much like children. Provide the proper environment and they will be yours forever. All things accomplished with a horse are through trust.”
We’re firm believers in groundwork. Regardless of the training level of the horse upon arrival at the Bar T, we will spend a substantial amount of time from the ground before we ever approach the horse with a saddle. Good groundwork is a solid foundation. Just like you wouldn’t put the framework of a house directly on the ground, we wouldn’t dream of moving forward without a foundation.
If your horse is already started and coming to see Jim for an issue, he'll take a similar approach-- he'll fill all the foundational holes from the ground up. By taking this approach, it ensures that your horse becomes a safe and willing partner.
If you’re interested in gaining Bar T training for your equine partner, plan on spending some time out at the farm learning with your horse. While it’s helpful for your horse to gain a new skill set, you won’t be able to use those tools if you haven’t learned. For your convenience, we include a select number of lessons in our training packages.
Interested in clinics? Jim offers onsite and off-site horsemanship, cow working, groundwork, obstacle and trail clinics.

Rejuv-A-Horse
Equine massage is a great service to provide for horses of all ages, disciplines, and work levels. It allows the horse to maintain their body and be able to freely move and work to the best of their ability. Massage is a great preventive therapy used for horses to allow them to maintain proper muscle function. It helps improve their flexibility and range of motion which in turn can reduce their chance of injury or lameness. It can improve your horse’s circulation, reduce fluid buildup and muscle soreness. Massage is a natural, non-invasive approach to “re-charging” your horse’s battery and providing natural holistic healing.
If a horse is sore or is tight in a specific muscle group, they will not be able to move the proper way that their body is meant to. This may cause a lack in performance. It can also cause an accessory movement, which is a compensation due to the muscle firing pattern being disturbed, which in turn will inhibit their full work potential. Through equine massage Kelsey can feel and see the different muscle groups and how they may be improperly working and will try to "rewire them" to allow the horse to move more freely and reach their full potential.
Equine massage is also good for horses that are older and out of work. Through equine massage it helps keep the older horses going and keeps them moving comfortably even if they are retired. Equine massage can also help horses who are injured or have had old injuries by "rewiring" their body to help them get back on track. If it is an old injury, massage may help alleviate their accessory movements, which has now become normal, and allow them to move more fluidly.
K9 massages are also offered and beneficial for dogs who may pull a muscle while playing or working, or older dogs with joint pain or arthritis

Whisper’s Horse Hearts
Whisper's Horse Hearts located out of Leesburg, Virginia is the first equine treatery to introduce gourmet zero-sugar horse treats to the market. We all know the harmful effects that sugar has on our own bodies, so why would we feed it to our horses? Horses consume plenty of sugars in their natural diet, its actually common for them to consume excess due to being provided with such lush pastures to graze off of. With the rise in domesticated horses being diagnosed with Cushings, Laminitis, Equine Metabolic Syndrome, or Insulin Resistance, we set out to formulate treats which will not exacerbate your horse's health concerns.
What if your horse is completely healthy and free from the above mentioned metabolic disorders? We still encourage you to test out our treats! Even the pickiest of eaters enjoy these healthy treat alternatives, and you can feel at ease knowing that you are not ruining your horse's health. We believe that your best friend deserves the best treat, don't you??
